DesignBUILD 2013 was held in Sydney in May. The show was a huge success, and was the result of collaboration between industry associations, principal partner ASKIN, exhibitors, consultants and the show team. The design, build and construction industry needs collaboration to achieve success. Australian manufacturers need a platform to showcase their innovations, trades and professionals need easy access to see local and international ideas, try new tools and experience state of the art applications, and architects and specifiers need to have the tools, foundation and networks to realise their plans.
Each year DesignBUILD aims to bring the best of these industries together into one location for three days of innovation, networking, education and inspiration.
This year, as well as having over 250 exhibitors and industry associations including Master Builders NSW, the Australian Institute of Architects and Australian Construction Industry Forum, the show floor was packed with feature areas.
SHOW FEATURES IN 2013
In 2013 Innovation Alley was situated at the entrance to the show floor. As visitors walked through the feature over 20 new and innovative products were on display. Visitors could view the product, read company and product information, and then vote for their favourite new product to win the Visitor's Choice Award. The winner was the Kingspan PowerPanel by Kingspan Insulated Panels. Exhibitors gained a powerful second footprint on the show floor.
A new feature in 2013, Future Living by Cameron Rosen was an interactive structure showcasing how sustainable products from a range of exhibitors worked together to form a real-life solution for a home of the future. Cameron Rosen from Australian Living collaborated DesignBUILD to present a range of seminars and networking opportunities for those interested in moving towards a more sustainable way of building in the future.
SEMINARS & WORKSHOPS
This year DesignBUILD ran a range of seminars and workshops throughout the show. Our acclaimed panel of industry leaders discussed the issues and challenges facing the Australian building and construction industry. Our keynote speaker was Professor Fernando Martirena, who discussed the ramifications of climate change on the industry. Our workshops offered CPD points for attendees.
TOOL DEMONSTRATION STATION
Our VEK Tools Demonstration Station this year enabled visitors to get hands-on with the latest tools and equipment from leading brands. Visitors could test a range of products and ask for advice from those in the industry as to the right tools for their job.
The Central Bar provided the perfect place for visitors to re-fuel with a coffee, alcoholic beverage or tasty hot meal. Here you could take a break before heading to your next DesignBUILD destination.
Our principal partner in 2013 was ASKIN Performance Panels, formerly Austral Australia. Steve Clarke of ASKIN said "As principal partner of DesignBUILD 2013, we know that forward thinking industry trades and professionals will have the opportunity to take in all that ASKIN has to offer.”
