DesignBUILD is for trade and industry professionals of all four levels of the residential and commercial building process, including:

  • Design, Specification and Planning
    Architects, Specifiers, Design Engineers, Developers, City Planners
  • Building and Construction
    Builders, Plumber, Sub-contractors as well as Indoor and Outdoor Trades people
  • Retail and Building Suppliers
    Trade Dealers, Retail, Distributor, Buyers
  • Facility Management, Policy and Regulators
    Building Owners, Industry Associations, Facility Managers
International Visitors

If you are from overseas and planning to visit DesignBUILD you need to apply for a business visa. The passport which you hold determines whether you can apply online, or if you need to lodge a paper-based application. Click here for more information.

Applications need to be made well in advance at the Australian Embassy in your country or in some cases can be made online. For more information visit the Department of Immigration website. Download the application form to apply for a temporary business visa.

Please note that the Organisers do not provide visa invitation letters to international visitors.

General Information

Conditions of Entry

  • DesignBUILD, the Plumbing Design Show and the CEDIA Expo 2010 are trade-only events.
  • Genuine trade professionals will only be allowed admittance to these expos.
  • All visitors to the show are to register and wear ID name badges - which must be visible on-site at all times.
  • No product may be removed from the show without a show receipt.
  • Smoking is not permitted within the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Student Entry

  • Only students who are enrolled in a recognized building and / or construction course will be allowed entry to the exhibition.
  • Student identification highlighting the relevant course will need to be presented on entry.
  • Access to seminars offered as part of the ‘Foundation Program’ will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis as seating is strictly limited. Once these sessions are full, no further seating can be made available owing to venue restrictions governed by Occupational Health and Safety restrictions.

Photography Prohibited

  • To protect the intellectual and product property rights of exhibitors, no video or still photography (including mobile phones) is permitted. These rules are strictly enforced and individuals caught taking unsolicited photography will be removed from the show.
  • Permission to photograph products or stands within the show can only be granted with prior approval from the show organiser.

Canvassing

  • Canvassing for orders by any unauthorized person(s) is strictly prohibited and in any such case the right of immediate expulsion will be exercised. The distribution or display of other placards, handbills and circulars, or other articles, except by exhibitors on their own stands, is strictly prohibited.

Children & Babies

  • DesignBUILD, the Plumbing Design Show and the CEDIA Expo 2010 are trade-only events as such children under the ages of 15 years are not allowed to enter the show.
  • Babies are an exception if they are carried in a baby sling / carrier / backpack. Prams and stroller are prohibited
  • It is highly recommended that any one attending the exhibition organize off-site care for children before they attend the show.
